ServicesIndustrial Insulation

As an industrial insulation contractor, we provide cost-effective and energy efficient industrial insulation solutions to the Oil and Gas industry.

Damaged, wet, or aging insulation can result in dripping pipes, leaking valves, and heat-traced tubes. With Western Canada’s weather extremes, it’s not unusual for badly insulated pipes to freeze and crack. The subsequent cascade of events can put both employees and the environment at risk and lead to downtime and productivity losses while repairs are carried out.
Installing proper insulation, maintaining existing insulation, or replacing inadequate insulation not only protects piping systems, but also the products transported through them and the efficiency with which those products are carried.

INDUSTRIAL INSULATION FOR STORAGE TANKS AND VESSELS

Insulation panel installation is available for production tank meter controls, vessels, and storage tanks throughout Western Canada. Insulation panels for tanks and vessels come in various exterior finishes including:

  • Galvalume
  • Galvanized
  • Pre-painted
  • Aluminum

The insulation panels used on tanks and vessels are scored on one side to accommodate the curvature of the tank or vessel.

Metal jacketing is also available.

Materials include:

  • Mineral wool
  • Foam glass
  • Calcium silicate
  • Urethane
  • Fiberglass

Metal jacketing is wrapped around the tank or vessel and held in place with stainless-steel strapping. Metal jackets are available in a variety of exterior finishes including embossed stucco, smooth stucco, and corrugated.

Glycol Heat Tracing Installation

We offer cutting-edge installation of Glycol Heat Tracing systems and tubing.

Glycol Heat Tracing is a popular method of protecting pipes, boilers, pumps and other equipment, or maintaining water at specific temperatures during the extreme cold of Western Canada’s winters. The method involves strapping a series of closed loop tubing circuits to the equipment. Heated glycol is then circulated through the tubing dissipating its heat to the equipment being protected. This whole thermal balancing process of matching heat output with heat loss takes place under a layer of insulation.

Heat tracing systems are custom designed to the specific requirements of the equipment being protected and can be contoured to protect the many different types of valve work found in the oil and gas industry.

Our company has years of experience installing glycol heat tracing systems in a wide range of applications where the peak performance of pipes and process equipment depends on properly maintained temperatures.

Removable Insulation Coverings

We install reusable, removable tracer wraps and insulation covers in all major Oil and Gas regions in Alberta and British Columbia.

Removable and reusable insulation is a great solution in situations where it needs to be removed frequently. Temporary insulation wraps are a breeze to remove and replace. They allow better access for workers while ensuring workplace safety and controlling general operating temperatures.

Our temporary covers and wraps are made from Fiberglass Mat Insulation with Silicon coated fiberglass cloth and are both flame-retardant and chemical-resistant. They tend to be less expensive than permanent insulation solutions, but just like more permanent solutions, our temporary covers boost energy efficiency by improving temperature regulation and reducing heat loss.

Each cover has an identification tag marking the location and equipment it was designed for.

The custom designed covers have a snug fit yet are easy to remove and replace when valves need to be accessed. The advantages of Removable Insulation Covers include:

  • Better regulation of product temperature
  • Fiberglass Mat insulation material with Silicon Coated Fiberglass Cloth
  • Resistance to chemicals and flame
  • Custom design to fit system requirements
  • Improved safety for workers
  • Easy installation and removal for valve access
  • Reduced heat loss for those lines exposed to the elements

Utilidor

A Utilidor is the insulated bundle of pipes commonly used in Canada’s most northern communities. In these regions of extreme cold, the permafrost conditions mean that water and electricity need to be distributed above ground. Utilidors insulate these networks of pipes and cables, preventing them and their contents from freezing.

Utilidors are typically created using polyurethane foam insulation as wraps or panels. They minimize heat loss, maximize cost savings, and boost energy efficiency by insulating bundles of pipes rather than insulating each pipe individually.
